How to enjoy the rainy season at home

The wet season is finally here! As the tropical Philippines reaches the month of June, the weather in the country shifts from the dry season to the rainy season and will eventually last up to the month of October.

Rain can be a nuisance when you’re outdoors, but it could also be amazingly relaxing when you’re inside your house. For those who do not want to go out when it’s raining, here are some tips on how to enjoy the rain inside your cozy home.

Play some mellow music
When is the best time to enjoy some slow and sentimental music from your favorite artists? You guess it right, it is when it’s raining! With the right mix of the pitter patters sound of the rain, it could be a perfect backdrop to add to the sentimental vibe of the mellow music you are playing.

Enjoy some warm and good food
There’s nothing more satisfying than drinking a hot chocolate, coffee, or tea during the rainy season. Drinking something warm is a good way to heat up your body when you’re feeling cold and chilly. Actually, in a usual Filipino home, it is common for mothers to prepare for their families warm foods like Sopas, Arroz Caldo, Champorado, or hot noodles during the rainy season because it’s the perfect time to satisfy one’s cravings for such food.

Read a book or watch a movie
For bookworms, it’s the best time to curl up on your bed and read a good book while it’s raining outside. For cinephiles, it’s a perfect way to relax by watching your favorite films while cozying up on a sofa or elsewhere in your room.

Meditate for self-care
Meditation is ideal for our mental health to relax after a long day and give our bodies some time to respite. Watching the raindrops on your window could make you forget all your worries for the meantime and bring us inner peace and spiritual healing.

Get some cozy sleep
Other people fall asleep faster when they hear the gentle sound of rain because there’s a satisfying and comfortable feeling that the rain brings. Other people are also fond of the petrichor, or the pleasant smell that accompanies the first rain after a long dry season.

Imagine doing any of these things in a cozy home of a Camella subdivision rather than in a crowded neighborhood downtown where floods, noisy neighbors, and heavy traffic jams bother you no end.

It’s Time To Give Back

Our parents have always been our pillars of strength ever since we were born. They have always showed their support through our ups and downs. Some children grew up with their parents close to their side, while others were raised with their parents far away from home in order to work and provide for their family’s basic needs. But whether they are physically near or far from us, we know that they will always be close to our hearts. This coming Sunday, June 16, we celebrate and pay tribute to our loving and persevering fathers. They have always worked tirelessly day after day to give what’s best for their family. The sacrifices they do to keep us safe, secure, and happy are irreplaceable. And now that Father’s Day is fast approaching, it’s time for us, their children, to give back and repay their hard work. We might be thinking of bringing them to a nice restaurant or buying them a polo shirt of their favorite brand. But are you thinking what we’re thinking? Gifting our...

Travel Now, Pulubi Later? Or Invest Now, Travel Later?

We have always dreamt of traveling to other places. Getting to know other people’s culture and history excites us because it broadens our knowledge and experience in life. It makes us happy, even the little things of seeing the clouds in the sky up close from the airplane’s window or getting our passports filled with colorful stamps from the countries we’ve visited. Yes, traveling is fun, but it also costs a lot of money. Though it is good to travel around from time to time, we need to realize that at the end of the day, we still have to go back to a place we call our home.  Being in our early 20s and 30s might excite us when we are earning from a stable job and get control of what we want to do with our lives, particularly to explore. But it is said that too much of anything is not good. While we keep on spending for short-term experiences, we might forget to save for our future. We must always think that moments are fleeting and we don’t know what’s going to happen...
